Geography: Namibia is sharing boarders with South Africa, Botswana, Angola and Zambia. The territory of Namibia has the size of 824 292 km2. The biggest city is the capital Windhoek, other important cities are Rundu, Swakopmund, Walvis Bay and Oshakati. Between the two deserts Namib and Kalahari is the highland with the capital Windhoek. The highest mountain is the 200km north of Swakopmund located Koenigstein with 2600m over sea level. 

History: Namibia became a late colony in comaparison to other African countries. 1884/1885 the German empire install on the territory of the Republic of Namibia with the the exception of the territory of Walvis Bay the colony German South West Africa. In the period between 1904 and 1908 there was a war between the German colonial power and the Nama and Herero people with thousands of victims on the side of the Nama and Herero. After World War 1 Namibia became a South African protectorate in 1920. After decades of guerilla war Namiba became independent on the 21st of March 1990. Walvis Bay was later given back to Namibia in 1994 after the collapse of the apartheid regime of South Africa.

Holidays: Namibia has 14 public holidays. Beside the 7 Christian holidays Good Friday, Good Saturday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, Ascension Day and the two Christmas days, holidays without religious background are: New Years Day, Independence Day on the 21th of March, Labor Day, Casinga Day on the 4th of May, Africa Day on the 25th of May, Heroes Day on the 26th of August and the Day of Human Rights on the 10th of December.
